Crafternoon

Crafternoon is an after-school space for tamariki up to Year 8 — a chance to get creative through a craft activity, make friends, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon together.

Alongside craft, we also have toasties available for hungry-after-school bellies, hot drinks for parents/caregivers, and a play space for younger siblings. Stay for as little or as long as you want (no drop-offs please).

Koha is invited, but we don’t want cost to be a barrier so please come along and have fun.

When: Tuesday afternoons in term time, 3–5pm
Where: St Michael's hall, 196 Newlands Road

Veggie Co-op

St Michael's is a collection point for the Titahi Bay Fruit & Vege Co-op, bringing affordably priced fruit and vegetables to our community and others around Wellington.

Just $15 a week sees a bag of fresh fruit and vegetables delivered to St Michael's, ready for you to collect from our volunteer crew between 3.00pm–5.30pm each Tuesday.

How do I join?

Email your name, address, phone number and email contact to tbvegcoop@gmail.com.

Ordering

Place your order with the fruit and vege co-op coordinator. Pay $15 a week in advance, internet banking by 5pm on Wednesday. Collect on the following Tuesday from the Collection Centre of your choice.

Pay by internet banking to:

  • Account: Titahi Bay Co-operative

  • Number: 38-9017-0779701-00

  • Particulars: Last name (caps) & first name

  • Code: NEWLANDS and quantity ordered (e.g. NEWLANDS x 2)

  • Reference: Collection date (e.g. 6 Aug)

We recommend joining the Titahi Bay Fruit and Vegetable Co-op Facebook Group to find out what's coming in this week's packs. Pack contents are usually advised on Fridays, once orders are placed with the growers, so you can do your shopping over the weekend, knowing what's coming in Tuesday's pack.

Want to help out?

We'd love to grow our team (pun intended) of fruit and veggie lovers to help on Tuesdays with distributing packs. If you're keen to help, please get in touch.

Uniform sale

For the last 5 or so years, we have run a second-hand uniform sale for Newlands Intermediate and College students.

In October, we start collecting second-hand items generously donated by students who have outgrown items or who are leaving school. These are sorted, cleaned, mended where necessary, and prepared for sale in January.  All items are sold for between $5 and $15, and represent a significant saving for our local community.

All proceeds go back into groups and activities supporting our local community.

In 2026 the sale raised $5,674 and families saved $29,313 instead of buying new items.

We do have some items available throughout the year, or if you wish to donate items before October, we’d love to hear from you.

Food / Kai Support

Pātaka

The Community Pātaka or share shelf is outside our gate. It's a resource for our community to share what we have and bless each other, and take what we need.

How does it work?

Feel free to help yourself to what you need, or take something to bless someone else. Sometimes we all need a little bit of help, or just a treat. Feel free to take what you need. We don't check everything that people donate, so if you are taking a food item please check the expiry date as we can't be responsible if you get sick.

Dropping something off?

Thank you so much! We accept:

  • Unexpired, unopened food items (nothing hot or pre-cooked that requires refrigeration please)

  • Other household items like toiletries and cleaning products

  • Baby care supplies

  • Garden produce — fruit, vegetables, seeds or seedlings

  • Books and puzzles

  • Crafty, creative things that you've made that you might like to share

Freezer meals

We sometimes have homemade freezer meals available to support people in emergency situations – please be in touch.
